Fetch Quest : Remastered

I kept dying to the red troll in the desert, that one shot me with boulders. Suddenly I got the monster info screen poppet up, then teleported to the wizards castle. Then immediately the game over screen appeared. Press Continue teleports me to a new area

When you exit barn, there is an enemy circling a man, but the gate looks open but Can’t enter that area to save him.

Okay got the bow and arrow so went back to save man. Monster keeps sliding after hit. Man keeps circling after saved.

Is the layout button just a temporary placeholder in the bottom right or does it do anything. Clicking changes it to back.
