You seen the trailer for the new Amnesia? The fact it has a pistol reminds me of Frictional's earlier horror series, Penumbra. Did you know you can find a preserved Spider from Penumbra in Amnesia, in one of the earlier areas in Castle Brennenburg?

You hear about Nightmarefest? It's like Dreamsfest, a fan community event, but focusing on horror instead of music.

I think people take game modders for granted. Many of Valve's most popular games originate from Half-life mods. Team Fortress 2, for example, which has inspired many memes and Gmod/SFM videos on YouTube, like Ocskylla. Or Gmod itself!

There's also Half-life 1 mods U.S.S. Darkstar, Cthulhu An Unspeakable Remod, and a gem loved by streamer Vargskeletor, "Swiss Cheese Halloween 2003".

Some real good Half-life 1 mods include the They Hunger trilogy, zombie horror at its best before "zombie fatigue", revolving around a troubled writer trying to escape the County of Rockwell. PC Gamer gave out free copies for each.

Black Mesa took years to make, a real loveletter to Half-life 1. I saw a documentary on it a bit ago. I love old-style graphics, they work well with horror games, so I'm a fan of a lot of Half-life 1 mods.

System Shock 2 is supposed to be really good, I've heard. The Many inspired a player group of the same name in The Urban Dead game, who formed a massive horde and overran a thought-impenetrable mall base. "The Many of Malton".

The Darkness was a great game, I liked 2 also but not as much, I feel it traded the gritty, filthy city look with a cleaner, cartoon looking style.

Besides the Amnesia series and other games made by its creators, any other game series you fondly remember? I have good memories of Gex 3 Deep Cover Gecko.

Amnesia, Penumbra, Soma, all were great horror games. What I'm wondering is what the creators will make next.
