Sometimes if you jump and mash L2 and X you'll get a weird jump pose (looks a little bit like his long jump in 64) with the third triple jump sound.

When the camera is far away, Mario's pupils become smaller

If you press L1 than X over and over you can stay in the air forever. This seems to work only when double or tripple jumping.
