Health doesn't get healed up when you get hit while using a health kit

In the first level, after defeating an enemy while locked on, the camera automaticly locked onto an enemy that was clearly waiting in ambush. It seemed to me like that shouldn't have happened because of the distance and the enemy was completely hidden.
