Oh, and I forgot one suggestion: I think the dialogue text boxes could use a bit more ornamentation to better fit the pirate mood ;-)

That was really cool! Loved the variety in gameplay styles, and the pirate mood has been brilliantly realised! As for the voices, maybe using sound effects/short loops to mimic speech could be a stand-in solution to make the game less silent?
