I suggest adding one dim and/or subtle light source between the living room and kitchen so that the player knows where to go. Don't tell the player the door in the hall is locked. Let them discover that for themselves. Otherwise, It's an excellent start.

Love the polish. I think th alien models would be best used in very briefest of glimpses, suck as the jump scare. Because the are not so scary when you can really look at them.
