Currently, whenever a better score is posted to a scoreboard, a new popup is shown. This works, but it means that if it would be better for the score to constantly be updated so that progress is always accounted for (got the furthest distance into the level, gold collected throughout the lifetime of playing, time played, etc.)... the popups will also be constant.

Also these popups cover the corner of the screen, which for some games impacts gameplay (eg. covering UI, or an enemy sneaking up from that corner) or can mess up the player's experience (eg. in a tense horror, a score pops up).

Creators have resorted to requiring the player to choose when to post a score. Which, while that is a good workaround, isn't ideal if that's not how they wanted their game to work.

A simple way of fixing this would be to have settings on a given score gadget:

"Popup Better Scores Immediately" -- works as it does now, but can be turned off for "silent" score posting.

"Popup Better Scores While Paused" -- if a score popup is lined up but hasn't been shown yet, this would show the popup if the player pauses the game.

"Popup Better Scores On Exit" -- if a score popup is lined up but hasn't been shown yet, it is shown when a doorway is activated to leave the scene or dream, or the player pauses and chooses to leave the dream.

This way, the creator can choose when popups are allowed (dynamically turning on and off "popup immediately" during play using their judgement as the game designer), and telling Dreams to auto-show any outstanding popups at times they deem suitable.
