My biggest struggle with using Dreams is wrangling elements and scenes, keeping them in some sort of usable organisation. I cut down on file bloat by compiling similar assets into single elements, but this can only go so far to help. Suggestions/thoughts/issues;
1. Could we please have more options for organising our elements/scenes/Dreams? Even simple alphabetisation would be enormously useful. The only option that is useful at the moment is 'last edited', and even that is not great when you have dozens of different files for multiple Dreams. Pinning frequently used elements or organising by tag would be super useful solutions.
2. Collections are ostensibly a substitute for file folders, but they have severe limitations. We've got one of two options with using collections to organise our assets;
1. Send files to a collection and keep the original in your main file list. Sure this helps group related files, but without deleting the original from the main file list you are only worsening file bloat, and the collection ends up buried in your nearly-random main list. Not ideal.
2. Send files to a collection and delete (archive/delist/delete the local save) the original. Certainly the best option for cleaning up the file bloat, but there is a serious problem - you can only access the file when it's in the collection if you have access to the Dreams server. If you are offline (I'm sure I'm not the only dreams user with a spotty internet connection), the files are inaccessible. Also, in the future once the servers are finally shut off, you work is gone forever. Even less ideal.
I'd love to use collections to clean up my files, but these are real problems for us. I'm sure file management is a lot more complicated in the Dreams ecosystem than on other platforms, but we REALLY need a solution. I know I'm not the only one struggling with these issues.
