First of all, I absolutely love this year’s presentation! The hub was a great build up and the show was a fun time :)

Mainly I wanted to comment on the change in format: having creators put themselves out for the categories they want is a huge improvement over leaving it up to community voting. This method is is more equitable and accurate to how “real world” (professional) awards work - you have to apply in order to be considered.
I personally felt very put off by the way some creators campaigned on social media for nominations last year, and this year we didn’t have that. It as good. These awards are about quality of work, not who can make the most noise.

I realize quite a few people didn’t like the process of “self nomination” without community nominations and I have two suggestions for next year:

1: change the terminology so that creators “apply” or “enter” - this is more consistent with what I’ve seen elsewhere (I realize that may be different regionally) and I think that would avoid people feeling that it’s egotistical or bad form to self nominate. Save the term “nominee” for those who are shortlisted

2: allow people to recommend other community members, without starting a popularity contest. Each person could be allowed one recommendation per category, and it would be anonymous. When a creator is recommended, they could receive an in game notification saying something like “a fellow Dreamers thinks you should apply for this category” - and this could be a one time message, so if there are multiple recommendations a creator doesn’t get spammed. Someone who’s feeling shy might be encouraged, and I think the ability to recommend other people is good for community spirit.

I saw a lot of comments from people who wanted to nominate others, and I do feel that aspect of encouragement was lacking this year.

I also saw a few comments from creators who seemed to want a community nomination without having to actively put themselves out… to me that’s not a reasonable expectation or something that should be catered to, but if recommendations could happen that might help people to feel more included.

No community is perfect, we’re pretty good though and we keep getting better. The support we give each other and the extent to which Mm stays involved and connected make us an awesome community, and the Impys being fair and accessible to everyone is important.

Cheers to anyone who read my long post ;)
