The interface for editing Collections and Dreams isn't as polished or precise as I think it could be. I often find myself switching back and forth between motion controls and sticks to precisely position elements while maintaining a collection, which is hardly ideal. After giving it some thought, are some quality of life improvements that I think could benefit the Dream/Collection Editor.

  1. Grid Snap and Precise Move. These would work similar to their standard Create Mode equivalents and would make it easier to neatly line up elements, scenes and dreams without needing to switch control schemes.
  2. A quicker way to select multiple elements at once. If you need to move a lot of things at once, individually selecting all of them can be a time consuming process. The ability to drag a box around all the elements you want to select would make that process much more convenient.
  3. Manually set collection bounding box dimensions. The automatic bounding box system currently in place is...fine, but I'd personally like the option to manually set its dimensions to, for example, fill the 16:9 aspect ratio without having to place markers at the corners of the collection.
  4. Background image crop and zoom. This sorta ties into the previous suggestion, since the collection's background is currently cropped based on the bounding box of the entire collection. It works, but I think we could stand to benefit from being able to manually adjust the crop and zoom of our chosen background images, as well as the transparency.
  5. Element limit indicator. There is a limit of 100 elements and notes per-collection (not sure what the scribble limit is, but I believe it's separate from elements and notes), however, there is currently no indication of how close you are to the limit untit you hit it and try to place a new item, which seems like a pretty glaring oversight. Something akin to the thermometer in standard Create Mode wouldn't have gone amiss.
  6. Path Nodes for Scenes in Dreams. Basically just wire nodes, but for the lines connecting different scenes in a Dream. A small change, but I think it'd make it a bit easier to keep track of where some doorways lead to in the more complex, open-ended Dreams.
