When I press X twice and select every object in a scene, the convert to paint contextual button appears. I thought to myself oh ok this will I guess smartly detect which objects are sculpts and convert them into paint. But it somehow seems to destroy gadgets, sounds, everything. Thankfully you can of course undo the damage, but just be careful for now :)
