It's worth noting that variables work exactly the same way as scores. But variables have "persist in dream" and can't post to a scoreboard is all. So you can change things out to use variables and variable modifiers instead of scores and score modifiers. Then when you want to post the score, set the score to the variable's value, and trigger the "post score."
