I understand people's frustration.
It's been a while, but from what I remember you're only required to go through the basic free-roam camera controls, before getting to play stuff. I think this is because if a game/creation lets you use the free-roam camera you'll be super lost and frustrated trying to get around, unless you've been taught how to use it.
Then to unlock create mode, you need to learn the basic creation stuff in the homespace so that you're not lost when you get to create mode.
Does it work like that? Maybe not. If not, it probably should I guess?
