It's not connected as in it falls down, or floats away? I think the problem is that you scoped into the puppet and not the individual body part.

Try this: scope out of everything, pick up the object with R2 (now don't let go of R2 until I say so, just keep holding it.) Move it to where you want it.

Now scope into the puppet with L1+X (still holding R2)

Now scope into the actual body part by pressing L1+X again.

Now you can let go of R2, switch to play mode and see if it works.
