I think you might be missing the point Peter. Here is an example. I stamp a cylinder down, and stretch it so it looks more like an ellipse. Now I subtract another cylinder within it that makes a hole in the center, and I want to stretch the subtractive cylinder the same way, but one unit less so I have a hole that matches the aspect of the positive cylinder. In other words stretch the positive to 4 by 3, and stretch the hole to 3 by 2. It's incredibly difficult to stretch the subtractive cylinder. Unless you have the imp on top of the positive wireframe, you can't even get to the negative wireframe. There needs to be a way to stretch or grab the negative wireframes without interference from the positive wireframes. We don't need to actually see the negative object. Instead we need to be able to easily see, stretch, and move the negative wireframes independently from the positive wireframes. So hovering over objects will reveal only negative or only positive wireframes. This would be the ideal way to do it. If that is not possible, than another idea is to be able to turn any stamped object into a negative object like TheOneironaut states. It could be added to the cloning process. Clone any object, and before you stamp it down, turn it into a negative stamp.....In TheOneironaut cup example the positive surrounds the negative making it impossible to stretch the negative, because the positive wireframe will always be selected no matter where you hover.
