You can sort of cheat this by having things not cast shadows, if that helps. If I remember correctly, making an object not cast shadows and making it not physical lets light pass through it (Believe I remember something similar from the cathedral stream). So as Abbott said, if you position the sun right at noon & full strength, you could have it fully light the room by doing that to the roof.
