Connect the "Possessed" output wire on the controller sensor to a "Splitter" gadget. There will be a "Player 1" output on the splitter that should tell you whether Player 1 is possessing the controller sensor. I believe all of the output wires on the Controller Sensor can output "Player Value" fat wires.
For the trigger zone example, I believe the Trigger Zone will also output a "Player Value" fat wire if it's set to detect controller sensors, so you should be able to split that wire just the same.
