Hard to give any hard advice without seeing the exact setup. But hopefully I can help you debug.
To debug, you can add value sliders, and expand their range a bit, maybe turn off the "slider visible in scene" part so it just shows you a number. Hook that up to the output of the timer you're hooked into, and the output of the sig-manip. Now you can make sure of what numbers are going into and out of the sig-manip.
If you tweak the sig-manip you can also use that realtime graph to figure out what it's receiving and sending.
It's also worth testing separate things, building the steps bit by bit so you know exactly which part introduces the bug.
