So this all depends on whether your wheel object is on grid. When you create your wheel make sure the grid is on. The imp will grab sculpts like torus, cylinder and sphere at their center point, so if you are using one of these to make your wheel just stamp them down.

right now you should be able to connect a bolt/motor bolt to the centre of the object but if you happen to move the wheel offgrid somehow (move it into place on a car or something) you can re-center the grid onto the wheel by hovering over the wheel and pressing L1 + Triangle while the grid is on. You should see the grid snap to the center of the wheel.

If the grid is too fine you can make it larger by pressing L1 + Up on Dpad (while grid is on) This can often make it easier to snap to center points too.
