Yeah if you decrease your grid size you can get it to do a straight line, for what you’re doing there though I’d recommend placing a single cylinder down, then switching to your tools menu and selecting the ‘stretch’ tool, hover over the top of the cylinder and pull it upwards and it’ll extend the length of the cylinder but keep the same width :) it’s a handy tool!
