If you used the "curve" sculpt and stamped a sphere with it, you may need to redo it. In sculpt mode, when you select the curve shape, press L1+Square to open up a different edit menu before stamping the shape which will allow you to actually make a curve.
From what I can tell, you can only edit a curve before stamping/smearing it. Afterwards, you just have to cut or add to it if you need to make changes.
