You can add a light to the scene from menu > gadgets > cameras & lighting > light. You can set it to be a spotlight, or a diffuse light (all around like a lightbulb). Then you can just scope out, move the light around, then scope back in to your sculpt to continue working.

Or an alternative is to turn off lighting effects entirely in menu > guides > studio lighting. If it's still shadowed by things, you could turn on the "hide everything else" switch in the context menu while in sculpt mode. Or you could use the "hide tool" in menu > tools, to hide the obstructing objects.
