If you're looking for a way of shortening many clips at once, I don't believe that works right now. Though that wouldn't help you find the part you're looking for anyway. So what kind of functionality are you looking for? What do you want to use it for?

If you want to actually remove whole bars of notes and such, open the piano roll. If you hold L1 and drag X along the top, it will select whole columns of notes. Same for the left to select whole rows. Though it's worth noting that notes don't take much thermo if any at all(?).

Again, I'm not clear on why moving the ends to the part you want makes it difficult to find what you need. If I wanted to do this, I would just open the piano roll, play or look through it to find the part I want, and then pull the ends to that point to chop out that part.

Or you can use the "trim" handles in a similar way without hiding the other notes. Hover over the top of the piano roll where the playhead is, and arrow buttons will appear at the left and right ends. Drag those around to set where the start and end of the clip is. Or just hover over the playhead row and use L1 + L3 to set the left trim, or L1 + R3 to set the right trim.

Not sure if any of that helps, as I'm still not 100% on what you wanted. But hopefully something in there helps XD
