I think I would try making an invisible block and sticking a controller sensor on it with "follow imp" set. Then put a key on the invisible block and get your points to follow the key when being "grabbed". If you use a follower to do the following you can constrain to particular axes if necessary. You shouldn't get any rotation if you disable collisions for the point. Using a teleporter will give you less lag but is a bit less flexible.
