I like to use the damping settings on a mover for this, as it offers more control than the sculpt friction setting. Set the overall damping to 100%. Then in the forward direction, set a low damping to act as wind and rolling resistance, and in the side direction, set a higher damping to act as friction. The board will tend to follow the path of least resistance.
Additionally, you can use logic to turn these values down if the board is in the air, so you don't have "ground friction". And if you want to get really fancy, you can lower the side damping at higher velocities to act as friction loss.
